Outlook, SK
CSIDC Research Station
Cost: Free
Interest in soybean production continues to grow in Saskatchewan, due to shorter growing season varieties and improved yields from genetics. This fall, ICDC will be hosting a full day field tour focused around soybean agronomy.
The morning tour will occur at the CSIDC, and will focus on ICDC and AAFC research trials. Highlights of the morning tours include soybean fertility, inoculation, seeding rates, seeding dates, variety trials and water management.
The afternoon portion of the tour will have a disease focus and will be lead by Professor Dean Malvick (Plant Pathologist and Director of Graduate Studies, University of Minnesota). The afternoon tour will take place at various irrigated and dryland fields where Dean will explain to participants how to identify disease in soybeans. This is a great opportunity for new growers to come and learn about soybean pathology from an expert.
